Winning customer Crandalls Memorials in NY chose for their donation to go to the 4H program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County in our MILES SUPPLY GIVES BACK donation program.
Crandall’s Memorials has selected the Allegany County 4-H program as the recipient of the “Miles Supply Give Back Campaign”. Being in a rural area of western New York where agriculture is a major industry 4-H Youth Development is a great program that helps our young people develop leadership, citizenship, and life skills. It’s a fun way for our friends and neighbor’s kids to learn and a great way to give back to the community. Our local 4-H program is not only active raising and showing livestock at the County Fair but has programs in farm safety, crafts, gardening, equine, fashion and more. Check them out at https://www.facebook.com/AlleganyCounty4hProgram.
Thank You Miles Supply for your service to our business and caring for our youth, what a great investment in the future.

Laura Hunsberger, Executive Director of the Program writes:
Since the beginning of 4-H more than one hundred years ago, Extension has empowered young people to use their head, heart, hands, and health to reach their full potential.
Using 4-H’s Learn by Doing approach, the Allegany County 4-H program is going to utilize the Miles Supply – Give Back Campaign funds to strengthen our Home Ec/Textiles/Clothing program:
The 4-H Clothing & Textiles program teaches youth to select, sew and maintain their clothes. They also learn about non-apparel items such household furnishings and non-sewn items such as knitted garments or felted ornaments. They express their creativity and gain experience in design, consumership, presentation, and evaluation. Most projects are county-directed by key volunteer clothing leaders or committees. Youth often share what they made through community service efforts and demonstrate what they learn at local and state fairs. We will also incorporate a connection with Cornell University’s Fiber Science and Apparel faculty.
Lastly, we will introduce Style Engineers – the new moniker for the Smart Clothing, Smart Girls — Engineering via Apparel Design Project that tests whether middle-school aged girls can be attracted to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and to information and communication technology (ICT) through fashion design and the study of smart clothing, functional garments that respond to a variety of stimuli (heat, pressure, movement, etc.).
