Lab Testing: The Natural Stone Institute offers competitively priced stone testing with a quick turnaround. Use this resource if you are introducing a new stone into the market, have outdated technical data, or need project-specific testing.
Safety & Health Resources: 27 quarry-specific toolbox talks are available in the Natural Stone University, covering everything from basic PPE requirements to fall arrest system regulations and slab tipping safety. These resources are designed to help quarry managers train employees on safety best practices and can be administered in a group setting or one-on-one with new hires.
Sustainability Standard: The Natural Stone Sustainability Standard (ANSI/NSC 373) is a certification program that creates a way for quarriers to prove their commitment to sustainable practices to the design community and potential customers. The standard defines metrics for sustainable stone production practices, including environment, ecology, and human health.
Networking: Natural Stone Institute members have opportunities to connect virtually and in-person with fellow members throughout the year during trade shows, webinars, and other events. Joining is a way to gain a connection to the natural stone industry at large, including distributors and other potential customers. In 2021, quarriers can also participate in a focus group/advocacy group to share insights and ideas for future programming.
CEU Program: Connect with architects and designers by scheduling CEU presentations at your quarry or facility. The Natural Stone Institute’s CEU program consists of multiple turnkey presentations, as well as sessions that can be customized to your company. All CEU speakers have access to full administrative support from Natural Stone Institute staff.
Natural Stone Promotion: The Natural Stone Institute works to help create demand and desire for natural stone through promotion and education. Quarries are featured in articles on Use Natural Stone (www.usenaturalstone.org), which aims to educate and inspire consumers, designers, and architects to choose genuine natural stone. Member quarries are also the subject of quarry tours each year, both virtually and in person through a webinar series and annual study tour opportunities that are promoted both to the stone industry and design community.
Resources for Salespeople: Utilize the resources in the Natural Stone University to train salespeople and other employees. Courses are available to expand natural stone knowledge, business best practices, and human resources. The Natural Stone Institute also conducts live webinars monthly on a variety of topics relevant to salespeople in the industry.
